Description
Zekelita ravalis (Herrich-Schäffer, 1851)
COMMON NAME(S): Snout moth.
SYNONYM(S): Hypena centralis Staudinger, 1892a; Rhynchina eremialis Swinhoe, 1889; Rhynchodontodes extorris Warren, 1913a; Rhynchodontodes pallida Draudt, 1936; Hypena revolutalis Zeller, 1852; Rhynchodontodes separata Warren, 1913a; Hypena syriacalis Staudinger, 1892a; Rhynchodontodes transcaspica Brandt, 1941.
IUCN STATUS: Not Evslusted (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Bahrain, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Oman, Réunion, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Zambia.
Also occurs in: Oriental: India, Pakistan; Palaearctic: Afghanistan, Armenia, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Palestine, Russia, Syria, Turkey, Uzbekistan.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants include the yet to be identified Fabaceae species Alhagi sp. (Hacker 2016).
