Aletis libyssa (Hopffer, 1857)

COMMON NAME(S): Monarch Looper.

SYNONYM(S): Aletis monteironis Druce, 1883; Cartaletis entebbena Strand, 1921a.

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include three Rubiaceae species namely, Oxyanthus latifolius Sond., O. speciosus DC. and Randia sp. (African Moths 2019).
