Virtual Classroom Environment with Babble Noise and Room Impulse Response Recordings

Description

A babble noise recording was made in a classroom of a Dutch elementary school when around 30 children, aged 10-11 years old, were working on a group assignment. The recording was made with a first-order Ambisonics microphone and is shared in B-format with FuMa normalization and channel order, so that it can be rendered for different loudspeaker setups. It can be used as a diffuse background noise in speech-in-noise tests with children, to create more ecologically valid conditions. The recording is also shared in binaural format for quick and easy playback for reviewing purposes.

Room impulse responses were also recorded in the same (unoccupied) classroom. These recordings are also shared in Ambisonics B-format with FuMa normalization and channel order. 

A simple 3D model was created based on the geometry of the classroom, which can be used as a basis when creating a VR environment. The Blender- and OBJ- file of the 3D model are shared.
