Description
Mental health is a person's emotional, psychological, and social status and plays a vital role in how one deals with stress, relates to others, and makes decisions. A person's mental health will have an effect on their productivity, relationships, grades, and overall physical well-being. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in every 8 people in the world suffer from a mental disorder. Mental health was also increased by the COVID-19 pandemic, and priority was put on prioritizing mental health awareness and support.
Traditionally, mental illness has been stigmatized and not well understood, resulting in discrimination, marginalization, and exclusion from the health sector. Mental health awareness is all about educating people about mental illness, improving emotional literacy, and gaining empathy and understanding for those with psychological distress. Awareness results in early symptom detection and encourages people to access treatment, hence reducing the burden of mental disorders.
