EWA-BELT PROJECT COMMODITY VALUE CHAIN ANALYSIS FRAMEWORK

Description

The EWA-BELT Project introduces innovative technologies and practices across East and West Africa, primarily targeting agricultural production. While these advancements aim to boost yields, they may also affect existing value chains by causing market imbalances, such as oversupply, price drops, and subsequent production declines. To address these potential inefficiencies, the project focuses on identifying and evaluating the associated value and supply chains. The goal is to map their structure, assess their market and financial performance, and uncover opportunities for upgrading to enhance stability and efficiency. To ensure a harmonized approach across six countries, a comprehensive framework—drawing from both traditional and modern Value Chain Analysis (VCA) models—has been developed. This review incorporates seven existing VCA frameworks to guide the creation of the EWA-BELT framework, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data.
