Make your research FAIR - Rock samples
Description
The FAIR Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) are guidelines designed to improve the management and use of scientific data, ensuring they are easy to find, accessible to all, compatible with other data, and reusable in various contexts. These principles should be applied throughout all phases of scientific research, from sample collection to publication of results in scientific journals. In the field of Geology and Earth Sciences, rock sample collection in the field must also follow a series of procedures to comply with the FAIR principles. This informational postcard presents, in the form of an infographic, the different steps to follow for proper geological sample collection in the field and the actions to take once back in the laboratory, such as obtaining an International Generic Sample Number (IGSN) and creating a sample collection with an identifiable DOI. Produced with the support of the EPOS-SpN RED2022-134516-E Grant, funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033.
