Description

Abstract:

Cultural tourism, which involves travellers engaging with a destination's cultural heritage, traditions, and arts, has experienced significant growth, fostering deeper connections between visitors and host communities. This form of tourism includes activities such as visiting museums, historical landmarks, and religious sites, and participating in festivals and workshops, enhancing cultural understanding. This paper examines the relationship between cultural tourism, heritage preservation, and economic development, highlighting how cultural tourism contributes to preserving heritage, its economic impact on local communities, and sustainable strategies for balancing conservation with economic benefits. The literature review covers the evolution of cultural tourism, its role in heritage preservation, economic development, community involvement, challenges of commodification, and maintaining cultural authenticity. It also discusses ethnic tourism and socio-economic impacts on host communities. Overall, cultural tourism fosters mutual respect, enhances cultural awareness, preserves heritage, drives economic growth, promotes sustainable development, empowers communities, and contributes to cultural diplomacy, creating a more inclusive and interconnected world.
