Description
TABLE 1. The number of mentions of Protoperidinium Bergh in the literature on the biodiversity of the Black Sea from 1886 to 2018. Notation key: 1–60—number of literature sources, in which the species is mentioned for the Black Sea; *—currently abundant in the Black Sea (primarily, according to our data) species of Protoperidinium, which are presented in this article; **— Sarai et al. (2013) proposed to split the species into three separate taxa (see “Nomenclatural note” under Protoperidinium quadrioblongum).
