Sociolect of an English-speaking blogger: lexical and stylistic aspect
Authors/Creators
Description
The work examines the concept of Internet communication as an indirect form of communication relevant to modern society. The characteristic features that distinguish it from real communication are given. The main components of the blog as an important speech genre of the Internet space are described. The relevance of the study is due to the lack of linguistic characteristics of the linguistic personality of an English-speaking blogger represented in a diary-type blog space, as well as his stylistic features. Definitions of the lexical and stylistic means of expression are considered. The literary and colloquial layers of vocabulary are characterized. It is revealed that the literary layer is represented by terms, barbarisms, phraseological combinations, and business speech clichés. The colloquial layer is characterized by slang, jargon, professionalisms, and vulgarisms. The most frequent stylistic means of expression and their correlation with the layers of vocabulary in the blog are described. Metaphor, comparison, and epithet appear to be the most frequent and vivid examples of lexical units in a blog.
