Long Term Data Issues: Workshop about Preservation, Archiving and Access in the NFDI

The publication describes the discussion points and results from the workshop “Long Term Data Issues: Workshop about Preservation, Archiving and Access in the NFDI”. The aim of the workshop was to get insight into long-term preservation and archiving activities in various NFDI consortia (see https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14212959) and to discuss long-term preservation topics in five breakout rooms. The discussion of the topics “selection criteria”, “data volumes”, “preservation of research software”, “long-term responsibility” and “initiatives, networking” highlighted many existing initiatives and solutions but also some open questions, e. g. in regard to community-specific selection criteria, retention times, preservation of research software and long-term funding.
