Description
The present document reports on the second EOSC Winter School, organised in Seville (Spain)
in early 2025 by the EOSC Association (EOSC-A), with the support and participation of the EOSC
Focus project, Horizon Europe (HE) EOSC-related projects, EOSC-A Task Forces, and
Opportunity Area Expert Groups (OAEGs). The 2025 EOSC Winter School was conceived to align efforts and strengthen collaboration between key stakeholders from the EOSC community involved in EOSC-related projects, under the motto "Convergence towards the EOSC Federation: Encouraging collaborative efforts among stakeholders". The “school” format is expected to facilitate the delivery of “one EOSC” that is more than the sum of their individual results. The discussions were organised around the priorities for the further development of EOSC, identified in four Strategic Pillars of the EOSC Partnership’s Multi-Annual Roadmap 2026-2027. These priorities were used to tailor the discussions at three levels
(European, national, and institutional) to devise recommendations and activities that could be
acted upon ensuring a successful implementation of EOSC. Discussions were organised in
seven topic-centred groups with participants from OAEGs and EOSC-A Task Forces. The outcome of the discussions, together with reflections on the progress made since the 2024 EOSC Winter School and the next steps, were presented in plenary meetings.
This report focuses on the recommendations identified in seven topic-centred groups, which
form the main result of the Winter School and are foreseen to inform the work plans for the
Opportunity Area Expert Groups. Together with the activities and outcomes suggested, they
demonstrate the continuous commitment of the EOSC community to advancing on the shared objectives. A description of the preparation of the EOSC Winter School, and summaries of the
discussions, are included as well as background material.
