Best Practices and Evaluation Criteria for Translating LGBTQ+ Terms in Conceptual Models
Description
The paper proposes some best practices and evaluation criteria for translating LGBTQ+ terms. It consists of three parts: 1) some guidelines for the best practices, 2) the indicators that could be used in the evaluation criteria, and 3) a self-assessment report template that includes the evaluation criteria.
This document was reviewed by Wilfred van Buuren (IHLIA), Gerrit Wessel (IHLIA), Andrei Nesterov (CWI), and Martin Borissov Mashalov (UvA). The author appreciates their help. Some ideas were suggested by ChatGPT and were carefully considered before adding to this document. This document is in its first version with room for improvement and extension. It serves as a supplementary material for the conference paper Towards Semi-automatic Construction of Multilingual LGBTQ+ Conceptual Models by Maria Adamidou and Shuai Wang to be presented at the MDTT conference in June 2025.
