Description

This paper provides an overview of the topics discussed at the International Conference Commission on Legal Pluralism 2025. The conference highlights various aspects of legal pluralism, including the dynamics of customary (adat) law in relation to religious law, national (state) law, and international law in efforts to protect the constitutional rights of indigenous peoples. In Panel 11, titled "The Dynamics of Customary (Adat) Law and Its Relations towards the Religious Law, National (State) Law and International Law in Preserving and Protecting the Constitutional Rights of Indigenous People", Prof. Dr. St. Laksanto Utomo and Dr. Rina Yulianti represented the Association of Customary Law Lecturers of Indonesia (APHA) as convenors. Prof. Dr. St. Laksanto Utomo delivered a presentation on "The Policy in Recognition of Indigenous Peoples Through Ratification of the Draft Bill on Indigenous Peoples", which explores policies for recognizing indigenous peoples through the ratification of the Indigenous Peoples Bill as a strategic measure to protect their rights at both national and international levels.
