Asphalt in hydraulic engineering
Authors/Creators
Description
Asphalt has proven its worth in hydraulic engineering for the construction of canals, dams, reservoirs and coastal protection as a building material for the construction of bottom and slope seals for around nine decades. Due to its relatively low layer thickness combined with enormous flexibility in terms of absorbing settlements and deformations, asphalt is the optimal solution for sealing any type of water basin. Despite its flexibility, asphalt has good stability even on steep slopes.
