Description

To enable researchers to prepare their research data independently for long-term availability, the open source tool “FDOrganizer” was developed as part of the project “Digitale Langzeitverfügbarkeit im Bibliotheksverbund Bayern”.

In general, several components need to be considered to ensure the long-term availability of digital objects. In addition to the preservation of readability, which is usually achieved through appropriate technical measures, it is also necessary to ensure the interpretability of the data. In this context, both preservation at the logical level, which ensures the future usability of the data, and preservation at the semantic level, which above all enables reuse in terms of content and structure, are important. In order to create the best possible conditions for the long-term availability of valuable research data, it is therefore necessary to provide them with appropriately detailed metadata.

For this reason, an individual metadata schema for the archiving of research data has been created. This documentation of the schema provides an overview of the individual metadata fields and their usage.
