Dark Matter as a Source of Quantum Fluctuations Bridging Particle Physics and Cosmology

Authors/Creators

Description

Abstract:

While dark matter is traditionally understood as a gravitationally interacting component of the universe, its potential role in generating quantum fluctuations remains an open question at the intersection of particle physics and cosmology. This paper explores whether dark matter—through its coupling to quantum fields, vacuum fluctuations, or hidden sector interactions—can serve as a source of quantum fluctuations that influence early-universe inflation, structure formation, and fundamental particle interactions.

Using a combination of effective field theory (EFT), quantum field dynamics, and cosmological perturbation theory, we investigate how dark matter-driven quantum fluctuations might affect the primordial power spectrum, cosmic microwave background anisotropies, and inflationary dynamics. Additionally, we explore whether weak interactions between dark matter and standard model fields could modify vacuum energy, gravitational wave signals, or particle physics constraints.

Key Highlights:

  • Theoretical link between dark matter fluctuations and early-universe quantum dynamics.
  • Analysis of potential dark matter couplings to standard model particles and hidden sectors.
  • Implications for cosmic inflation, vacuum energy, and large-scale structure.
  • Potential observational constraints from CMB, gravitational waves, and high-energy astrophysics.
  • Exploring dark matter-induced vacuum fluctuations in quantum field theory models.

By bridging quantum field theory, astrophysics, and cosmology, this paper provides a new perspective on dark matter’s role in shaping fundamental physics, offering novel predictions that could be tested in future observational and experimental studies.

Keywords: Dark matter, quantum fluctuations, vacuum energy, inflationary cosmology, effective field theory, cosmological perturbations, quantum gravity, gravitational waves, particle physics, hidden sectors.
