Overview of Information Strategies for Communicators
Description
In today's world where there is so much information, being able to communicate well is important for everyone, businesses, and communities. Communicators have to deal with a lot of information and different opinions when they try to share
important messages, sell things, or influence people's views on important topics. As the amount and complexity of information keep getting bigger and bigger, it is really important to have good ways of handling and using information for effective
communication (Sanchez & Guo, 2005, Jaeger & Bertot, 2010).
Information strategies are all about how to get, sort, make sense of, and share information in a smart and useful way. These techniques help communicators get their point across, find the key information, and tell stories that people care about
(Hua & Ahern, 2017). When you know what you're talking about, people will listen to you, believe you, and do what you want them to do, whether it is making them care, think, or act (Stanaland & Gelb, 2018).
Even though it is clear that information strategies are important, there is still a big gap in the research about how communicators can create and use these strategies well (Belkin, 2015, Robson & Robinson, 2015). A lot of research has looked at different parts of information management, like making data look nice (Evergreen, 2019), telling stories (Davenport & Beck, 2001), or managing
knowledge (Dalkir, 2017), but we still need a way to put all these things together and make them work for communicators.
This paper tries to fill this gap by making a plan for how to use information in a smart way to achieve your communication goals. This paper will give communicators a plan for how to find, sort, analyse, and share information smartly and effectively by using ideas from different fields like information science, communication studies, and data analytics.
