Seasonality of Overnight Stays in European Countries, 1990–2024
Description
Seasonality of overnight stays decreased in most European countries in the last decades: From the 38 countries analysed, 27 were clearly able to decrease their seasonality level. Iceland, Luxembourg and Denmark have the largest decrease in the long run. Montenegro, Ireland and Malta show highest decrease in the group of countries with shorter time series available.
A look at Spanish tourist areas shows that the analysis on national level (NUTS-0) can be misleading for larger countries and a more detailed look at destination level can reveal large differences between destinations even within the same state or region.
