Description
In this deliverable report we provide an overview scenario and literature evidence related to carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and discuss how the representation of CDR in integrated assessment models (IAMs) could be improved further.
First, we provide an overview of the concept of CDR, widely discussed CDR options, and the composition and development of the CDR research landscape. Second, we provide an overview of CDR options currently represented in climate change mitigation pathways produced by IAMs and related developments since the AR6 Assessment Cycle, as well as representation gaps of CDR in models. Third, we look into literature evidence that is currently underrepresented in IAMs but could contribute to a more comprehensive representation of CDR. Lastly, we provide a brief outlook of forthcoming evidence synthesis work relevant to UPTAKE task 2.
