Description

Eevaluation reports for "Curating an Environmental Health Vocabulary for Health and Environmental Chemical Assessments" (Angrish et al.).

The authors have presented the workflow being used to create the “environmental health vocabulary”, a controlled vocabulary of endpoint terms intended to improve the interoperability of data that is collected during the chemical assessment process. Documenting the workflow in this form should make one aspect of the complex data management practices that underpin contemporary chemical assessment processes more transparent and potentially deployable by other interest-holders, therefore potentially contributing to overall systems interoperability.

The reviewers commented that the manuscript would be improved with greater discussion of rationale and context, the addition of examples to illustrate parts of the workflow, and a thoughtful discussion about strengths and weaknesses of the workflow. Author revisions were comprehensive, with only a few minor additional revisions suggested for improving the clarity and readability of the manuscript.
