MULTIMEDIA AND SOCIOLINGUISTIC COMPETENCE IN SCHOOLS

  This paper examines the role of multimedia in fostering sociolinguistic competence among school learners. Sociolinguistic competence, which involves using language appropriately in various social situations, is essential for effective communication and successful social integration. The study looks at how multimedia tools—such as interactive simulations, digital storytelling, and video-based learning—can provide learners with opportunities to develop key sociolinguistic skills, including pragmatic awareness, the ability to adjust language register, and cultural sensitivity. The article reviews existing research and discusses the pedagogical implications of incorporating multimedia into language education, highlighting the importance of thoughtful resource selection and implementation to optimize learning outcomes and communicative competence.
