Description
This repository holds details of the Soundscape Experience Mapping (SEM) Protocol deployed in a pilot study support by the VITALISE Transnational Access programme, and the AI for Sound project.
The overall research study explores the connection between sound, memory, and well-being, with a particular focus on older adults. It uses various methods including cultural probes, Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), and Day Reconstruction Method (DRM) style reporting. These methods involve self-initiated activities, soundscape assessments, object association tasks, memory recall prompts, and sound journaling. The study also gathers feedback via focus groups and co-creative workshops to inform the design of AI-supported sound technologies. Qualitative thematic analysis is used to assess the data collected.
The aim of the study we developed SEM for is to design soundscape control and reminiscence technologies to improve well-being and support engagement with sonic memories.
