Description

Rubiaceae is the fourth largest family of flowering plants by several genera with several distinctive characteristics. Rubiaceae is a global family of diverse importance. The chapter comprises a brief literature and field survey on Benkara malabarica, a thorny shrub on its ethnomedicinal and pharmacological aspects in different parts claimed by tribal communities. The result revealed that the work carried out on roots, stems, and leaves has various pharmacological aspects. Therefore, further studies are required to provide more comprehensive data for future purposes.
