Abstract

This article examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the arts and cultural communication, with a particular focus on its transformative role in expanding creative boundaries and redefining artistic expression. Through the use of technologies such as machine learning algorithms, neural networks and generative systems, AI has enabled the diversification of artistic creation processes across a range of disciplines, including painting, music, literature and performance. These developments not only mimic human creativity, but also introduce new forms of artistic expression that challenge long-held notions of originality and authorship. The historical trajectory of AI in the arts is outlined, highlighting key milestones that have pushed the boundaries of artistic innovation. Various AI tools and platforms have widened access to artistic technology, enabling greater experimentation and engagement between creators and audiences. However, this has raised a number of ethical questions. The article therefore explores critical ethical considerations, including issues of intellectual property, authorship, algorithmic bias, and the societal implications of integrating AI into artistic production. These challenges highlight the need to ensure equitable access, guarantee data security and promote the ethical use of AI in the context of artistic endeavours. The article also considers the transformative impact of AI on the creative industries, including its implications for employment and the evolving roles of artists. Looking to the future, it discusses the potential of AI to promote artistic diversity, personalise artistic experiences and preserve cultural heritage. AI is presented as a catalyst for innovation, with the capacity to unlock new creative possibilities and facilitate global artistic and cultural exchange. The future of this synergy could promise enriched forms of expression and a reimagined cultural landscape. This is made possible by striking a balance between the technological potential of AI and the irreplaceable human element in art.
