Description
The thesis NOVA – Power the Future explores the intersection of energy literacy, education and interactive experiences to empower younger generations in understanding and engaging with energy systems. It addresses the critical need for accessible and engaging energy education in a time of global climate crisis, energy transition and rising eco-anxiety among young people.
Through research involving surveys, focus groups and expert interviews, the project identifies the barriers young people face in accessing reliable energy knowledge and the role of interactive learning tools in making the topic more tangible. The thesis introduces NOVA, a serious game designed to educate players about energy management, sustainable investments and the complexity of the energy transition. In the game, two players assume roles, Energy Minister and Advisor, making investment decisions while balancing economic, environmental and public opinion factors to meet the Paris Agreement goals by 2050.
The thesis ultimately demonstrates how game based learning and strategic decision-making can bridge the knowledge gap and encourage proactive participation in shaping a sustainable energy future
