Type locality: Sandakphu (27.0600°N, 88.0000°E), West Bengal, India;

Type specimen: ZSIC ZEV2951 / 7, ZMUH 7173

Distribution in Nepal: Eastern Nepal (Julka et al. 2009).

Distribution elsewhere: India (Michaelsen 1907, 1909; Stephenson 1923; Gates 1972; Julka 1988).

Habitat: Forest (Julka 2009).

Ecology: Not mentioned.

Remarks: Species epithet named after E. Bergtheil, who collected the type specimens along with D.H. Burkill. It was collected by M. Koirala from eastern Nepal.
