Description
The quaternary (postpliocene) ostracods of the South Caspian allow the sections to be differentiated into supra-horizons with the distinctive complexes and governing forms widely used for stratigraphic purposes. Many species of Leptocythere, Amnicythere and Loxoconcha occur within the ostracod fauna. A detailed review of genus and species is required to classify the fauna. Our photos show the basic Postpliocene fauna of the South Caspian, which correlates well with the coastal sections.
