The provided files accompany the manuscript "Porewater nitrate isotope dynamics in selected benthic habitats: Modulation by sediment reactivity and process coupling via nitrite" and include:

  • csv files with data:
    • Data.csv: all porewater measurements, including [NO3], [NH4], d15N-NO3, d18O-NO3, and d15N-NH4
    • Eps.csv: Rayleigh-derived N and O isotope effects for all sampled systems, along with the dual NO3 O-to-N ratio
    • Rates.csv: all denitrification, DNRA, and anammox rates, as determined with the 15N tracer incubations
  • Plots.Rmd: Rscript to reproduce the data-derived plots (i.e., not for model output) included in this manuscript 
  • zip folders for the investigated systems:
    • Parameter and data files to reproduce the model output 
    • Investigated systems:
      • One-step denitrification approach: Lake Baldegg (May-November 2021), Lake Sarnen (May-November 2021), Lake Superior (stations IR and WM), Skagerrak (stations S4, S6, S9), and Bering Sea (MC16, MC19, MC29) 
      • Three-step denitrification approach: Lake Baldegg May 2021, Lake Sarnen May 2021, and station MC16 of the Bering Sea
