[VISIR-2 ship weather routing model] source code (Python)
Description
Source code of the VISIR-2 ship weather routing model.
The Python-coded VISIR-2 model considers currents, waves, and wind to optimise ship routes via a graph-search method. It computes least-distance, least-time, and least-CO2 routes in a dynamic marine environment. The model was validated, and its computational performance is quasi-linear.

Series information
Input data availability:
- input datasets and graphs used for the route computations: https://zenodo.org/records/10674079
- Intermediate data products: routes for producing figures and tables of the manuscript https://zenodo.org/records/10674082
Technical info
This code release introduces new functionalities and fixes a bug. In particular:
- clearer inline comments in the input namelists
- enhanced GUI (based on streamlit) for port code search
- updated user manual
- bug fix(*) for case of input fields with overlapping timespans
- bug fix(*) relative to marine fields pre-processing in certain costal regions
*) already published results are unaffected.
Other
An online form is now available for providing feedback on the VISIR-2 ship weather routing model.
