High-resolution image of HD 100546: asymmetric ring and upper limits to circumplanetary disk

Description

We present long baseline ALMA observations of the 870um dust continuum adn CO (3--2) emission from the protoplanetary disk around the Herbig Ae/Be star HD\,100546, which is one of the few systems claimed to have two young embedded planets. We resolve the disk emission into an asymmetric ring between 20-40 au, but there is no detection of the circumplanetary disk (CPD) at the position of the claimed protoplanets. We compare the CO morphology and kinematics to the continuum emission, and present evidence for a spiral feature. We present upperlimits to the planetary mass and the CPD, and compare to results from previous numerical simulations to rule-out some models.
