Abstract
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) play a crucial role in ensuring the accountability and effectiveness of humanitarian aid projects. This study examines the impact of M&E practices on humanitarian aid projects in Somalia, focusing on their role in promoting transparency, improving resource allocation, and enhancing project outcomes.
Using a mixed-methods approach, data was collected through surveys, interviews, and document analysis from key stakeholders, including humanitarian organizations, government agencies, and beneficiaries. The findings indicate that strong M&E frameworks contribute significantly to improved accountability and efficiency in aid delivery. However, challenges such as limited financial resources, lack of technical expertise, and cultural barriers hinder the effective implementation of M&E in Somalia.
The study recommends strengthening M&E capacity through training programs, leveraging technology for real-time data collection, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and integrating M&E into project design. By adopting these strategies, humanitarian organizations can enhance their impact, ensuring aid reaches those in need more effectively and efficiently. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers, NGOs, and development practitioners seeking to improve humanitarian interventions in Somalia and similar contexts.
