This article analyzes the role of pragmatic competence in assessing sociolinguistic competence. It emphasizes the importance of not only using grammatically correct language but also adapting it to social and cultural contexts. The concepts of pragmatic and sociolinguistic competence, their interrelation, and assessment methods, including role-plays and discourse analysis, are discussed. The conclusion highlights that pragmatic competence is a crucial component in the evaluation of sociolinguistic competence.
