Benthic diatoms from urban streams in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This database includes 72 surface sediment samples from five streams in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, exposed to different degrees of urban impact. These sampling campaigns were part of an experimental study investigating changes in the diatom assemblage following water quality improvements, published in https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ecolind.2019.105951 and funded by the PIP 173 (CONICET) project. Surface sediment samples (epipelic biofilm) were collected for diatom analysis, along with measurements of water physicochemical parameters using a HORIBA multiparameter sensor and water samples for nutrient analysis. The database has been formatted following the standars of the project "DiatomS mEEt Databases: resources and practices to enable large-scale ecological research (SEED)" funded by the International Society for Diatom Research (https://isdr.org/early-career-networking-award/).
