Patterns of Monocot Lineage Diversity across the Mediterranean Climate Regions

This is the accompany dataset for Patterns of Monocot Lineage Diversity across the Mediterranean Climate Regions, New Phytologist, 2025. It contains all input data used in analyses performed in the publication, which analyzes the role of Meditteranean climates on shaping Monocot biodiversity patterns. It takes a particular interest in geopyhtic species, which resprout from underground organs. The data herein includes a list of Monocot species assessed in the analysis; spatial raster stacks of modeled distributions for these species; spatial coordinates of occurrence data used to produce the species distribution models; DNA sequence alignment and a phylogenetic tree of the Monocot species; data on geophytic traits for the species; and shape files (with associated meta data) for the Mediterranean climates and the analyzed regions. These data were used to produce measurements of spatial phylogenetic diversity and to perform statistical models on their relationship with key environmental variables and with Mediterranean climate zones. The preparation of these data and the outcome and discussion of these analyses are presented in the corresponding publication.
