Description
The Łuk'a and Drones curriculum supplements the DRONES in Alaska curriculum with a specific focus on applying the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to observing salmon in their natural habitat.
This unit of six upper-elementary place-based lessons explores drone technology and principles of flight. The curriculum features two short videos and five additional multimedia resources. The unit is designed to pair with: Studying Tokk’aano (Erosion) with Drones; Łuk’a (Salmon) & Drones; or Robe Lake. Lessons are in English with key terms in: Lower Koyukon Athabascan; Lower Tanana Athabascan; or Sugt’stun. An online Alaska Native Language tool is available to support language usage in the classroom.
