Description

This data set contains a series of files to run the ED2 model for the configuration described in the following manuscript:

Longo, M., M. Keller, L. M. Kueppers, K. Bowman, O. Csillik, A. Ferraz, P. R. Moorcroft, J. P. Ometto, B. S. Soares-Filho, X. Xu, M. L. F. de Assis, E. B. Görgens, E. J. L. Larson, J. F. Needham, E. M. Ordway, F. R. S. Pereira, E. Rangel Pinagé, L. Sato, L. Xu and S. Saatchi. Degradation and deforestation increase the sensitivity of the Amazon Forest to climate extremes. In review.

The compressed files contains a folder structure containing the following sub-folders:

  • thermal_sums. This has information for cold-deciduous phenology. Not applied in tropical forest simulations, but the files are required
  • soil_data. These contain data sets used to describe texture (texture), depth to bedrock (depth), colour (colour) and a legacy data set temp+moist that is not used by ED2.
  • veget_data. This data set  used to define the land/sea mask in fully coupled ED2-BRAMS simulations. These are not used by ED2 in the analysis presented in the paper, they are provided here for completeness only.
  • lcluc_scenarios. This data set provides the transition matrices for the land cover and land use change scenario in the spin up of the Degradation simulation described in the manuscript.
  • met_driver. This data set provides the meteorological drivers for the simulations. Important. For using it, you must manually edit the paths in file WFDE5_SOUTHAM_CHIRPS_HEADER, located in met_driver/WFDE5/WFDE5_SOUTHAM_CHIRPS
