Al cumplirse cuarenta años de la fundación de la Schola Gregoriana Illiberis de Granada, Julieta Vega, autora de esta obra y directora del grupo, recoge su historia y evolución en estas páginas. Fundada por Ricardo Rodríguez Palacios, la Schola ha desempeñado un papel fundamental en la vida musical de Granada, enfrentándose y superando numerosos desafíos a lo largo de su trayectoria en la difusión y estudio del Canto Gregoriano.
Julieta Vega, cuya vida profesional ha estado profundamente vinculada a este proyecto, narra su evolución en forma de Anales, siguiendo un enfoque cronológico que permite comprender la transformación del grupo a lo largo del tiempo. Aunque evita un tono personal, incorpora anécdotas que reflejan la percepción del canto llano y su función litúrgica y artística.
Además de documentar la historia de la Schola, la autora expresa su gratitud a todas las personas e instituciones que han apoyado este proyecto, desde directores y músicos hasta archiveros y religiosos que han facilitado el acceso a los cantorales custodiados en conventos y archivos históricos. Entre ellos, menciona especialmente a Ricardo Rodríguez Palacios, Juan Alfonso García García, Juan Sánchez Ocaña y muchas otras figuras cuya colaboración ha sido clave en la trayectoria del grupo.
Este trabajo no solo es un testimonio del impacto de la Schola Gregoriana Illiberis en la música sacra, sino también un reconocimiento a quienes han hecho posible su permanencia y crecimiento durante cuatro décadas, bajo la dirección y dedicación de Julieta Vega.
Abstract (English)
On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the founding of the Schola Gregoriana Illiberis of Granada, Julieta Vega, author of this work and director of the group, presents its history and evolution in these pages. Founded by Ricardo Rodríguez Palacios, the Schola has played a fundamental role in the musical life of Granada, facing and overcoming numerous challenges throughout its trajectory in the study and dissemination of Gregorian Chant.
Julieta Vega, whose professional life has been deeply linked to this project, narrates its development in the form of Annals, following a chronological approach that allows readers to understand the transformation of the group over time. Although she avoids a personal tone, she includes anecdotes that reflect perceptions of plainchant and its liturgical and artistic functions.
In addition to documenting the history of the Schola, the author expresses her gratitude to all the individuals and institutions that have supported this project, from directors and musicians to archivists and clergy who have facilitated access to the chant books preserved in convents and historical archives. Among them, she gives special mention to Ricardo Rodríguez Palacios, Juan Alfonso García García, Juan Sánchez Ocaña, and many other figures whose collaboration has been key to the group’s trajectory.
This work is not only a testament to the impact of the Schola Gregoriana Illiberis on sacred music but also a tribute to those who have made its continuity and growth possible over four decades, under the leadership and dedication of Julieta Vega.
