Las cartas en el Amadís de Gaula de Garci Rodríguez de Montalvo

This article analyses the letters inserted in the Amadís de Gaula (1508) by Garci Rodríguez de Montalvo. It is based on the typological study of the letters of the book of chivalry, carried out by Marín Pina (2011), to carry out a clas-sification and analysis of the chivalric epistles in Amadís de Gaula. The aim is to verify their narrative function for the configuration of plot arcs and the structuring of the story. On the one hand, it allows us to classify the most commonly used typologies and, on the other hand, to study the narrative importance of the letter in framing the different adventures. The epistle also helps in the development and characterisation of the relationships between the characters
