Description

The presentation 'ERA Action 2: An EU copyright and data legislative and regulatory framework fit for research' from 8 January 2025 at the IP4OS - OPEN SCIENCE AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SYMPOSIUM in Kiel outlines the objectives and main findings of the European Research Area (ERA) action 2 in the context of the IP4OS project.

Policy Officer Bertil Egger Beck (European Commission, DG Research & Innovation, Unit A4 Open Science & Research Infrastructures) explains the objectives and main findings on ERA action 2 (‘Propose an EU copyright and data legislative and regulatory framework fit for research’), which aim to disseminate scientific knowledge (publicly funded R&I results and publications) in the ERA.

The new Horizon Europe project IP4OS (Intellectual Property for Open Science, 2025-2026), which is linked to ERA action 2 as well as action 7 on knowledge valorisation, represents an appropriate gateway between the legal framework - provided by the ERA actions - and the IP4OS project outcomes of capacity building for intellectual property to boost Open Science and support European researchers and research institutions in the effective valorisation of research knowledge.

The results of IP4OS will be used for policy making on ERA action 2 and 7.
