Description

Tribolium (Tribolium) castaneum (Herbst, 1797)

Materials examined. Constanța County: Dumbrăveni (near), 43.9355°N / 27.9952°E, 16 September 2022, pasture— at light, Cosmin-Ovidiu Manci leg. (1 specimen), COMC.

Remarks. Species of Ethiopian origin (Hinton 1948), now cosmopolitan with records in 156 countries (Campbell et al. 2022). It is one of the most important and injurious insect species that attacks stored agricultural products in mills and warehouses around the world (Edde et al. 2012). Seidlitz (1891) is one of the oldest mentions of its presence in Romania. In Romania, it has been introduced with stored products (Teodorescu et al. 2006).
