Description

Alphitophagus bifasciatus (Say, 1824)

Materials examined. Constanța County: Dumbrăveni (near), 43.9355°N / 27.9952°E, 16.IX.2022, pasture—at light, Cosmin-Ovidiu Manci leg. (7 specimens), COMC.

Remarks. Mediterranean species (Dobrzycka-Krahel & Medina-Villar 2020), with cosmopolitan distribution (Buchelos & Athanassiou 1993). It was recorded in Romania before 1912 (Petri 1912). This species feeds on fungi and molds and primarily consumes decaying plant matter (Neiswander 1931).
