Jaspers, C.; Kaehlert, S. (2025) Mnemiopsis leidyi morphometric dataset
Description
Quantitative description of morphometric changes during development of M. leidyi. This dataset includes simultaneous oral-aboral and total length measurements for 1,708 M. leidyi from the northern and southern invasive range. These data include laboratory reared animals of known age (n=1,387), laboratory cultured animals (n=225) as well as freshly caught animals from the field (n=97). Size within this dataset ranges between 425µm for newly hatched larvae to adults with a total and oral-aboral length of 78 and 57.5mm, respectively. Data originate from previously published (Jaspers et al. 2011, 2018) and unpublished (Kaehlert 2015) sources. Oral-aboral and total length measurements were either assessed directly at the stereomicroscope or attained from calibrated images taken with a macro-lense and subsequent image analyses using the software ImageJ (https://imagej.net/ij/).
