This article is a synapse of the already presented and not yet published results of the analysis of the works of a number of well-known professors of Kyiv Theological Academy of the late 19th –early 20th ct. We will try to highlight the interesting aspects of the formation of the original religious discourse more than a century
ago, as well as the possibility of modern religious re-reading of texts relevant to the reproduction of the history of Kyiv’s intellectual culture. One of the promising areas of research of the intellectual heritage of Kyiv Theological Academy of the 19th – early 20th ct. was the discovery of scientific and religious potential of biblical and, more broadly, theological studies, which were carried out here at one time. This is a common uprising for many European countries during this period, in specific local cultural and religious contexts, at least elements of “proto-religious studies”. The discovery of these primitive embryos of the “science on religion” will be a necessary contribution to the writing of the history of national religious thought. Recent steps towards realizing this perspective have been our studies, which presented the experience of religious reading of the iconic works of several prominent professors of KSA in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The working hypothesis for us was the assumption of the possibility of distinguishing in some significant works of Kyiv academics at least embryonic elements of religious analysis relevant to the history of religions, religious  comparative studies, philosophy, phenomenology, psychology and sociology of religion.
