Description

Salganik et al. [2024] Impacts of air fraction increase on Arctic sea-ice density, freeboard, and thickness estimation during melt season

A discussion of how the analysis was performed is available as a preprint (Salganik et al., in review) at https://doi.org/10.5194/egusphere-2024-2398.

MATLAB codes are provided to convert MOSAiC observations from coring, airborne laser scanner, and underwater sonar to sea-ice density and air volume estimates.

Codes are then provided to reproduce Figures 1-10 in the main paper.

  • Figure 2a requires "M_Map: A mapping package for MATLAB" from Pawlowicz, R., 2020, available online at www.eoas.ubc.ca/~rich/map.html

  • Figure 2b requires selected optical orthomosaic available at Neckel et al., 2023, doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.949433

  • Figures 6 and 9 require selected ALS scans available at Hutter et al., 2023, doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.950896

  • Figure 8 requires a CryoSat-2 ice thickness estimate available at Landy and Dawson, 2022, doi:10.5285/d8c66670-57ad-44fc-8fef-942a46734ecb
