Description

Browser Ad Blocker

Browser Ad Blocker is a Chrome extension designed to block unwanted ads, improve browsing speed, and provide a cleaner web experience. It automatically detects and removes various types of ads such as banners, pop-ups, and video ads, while also neutralizing anti-adblock scripts to ensure smooth browsing. Users can customize ad-blocking behavior by editing a configuration file (rules.json) that targets specific ad domains and elements.

Key Features:

  • Ad Blocking: Automatically blocks a wide range of known ad domains, resources, and elements like banners, images, and scripts.
  • Anti-Adblock Detection Protection: Prevents websites from detecting and blocking the ad blocker through special anti-adblock scripts.
  • Customizable Blocking Rules: Users can easily modify or add new ad-blocking rules through a rules.json file.
  • Lightweight & Efficient: Designed to have minimal impact on performance while still providing strong ad-blocking capabilities.

How It Works:

  1. Blocking Ad Elements: Utilizes CSS selectors to identify and hide/remove common ad-related HTML elements such as iframe, img, div with ad-related classes or IDs.
  2. Declarative Net Request API: Dynamically blocks ad-related domains and prevents ad resources from loading by applying custom rules with Chrome's declarativeNetRequest API.
  3. Neutralizing Anti-Adblock Scripts: Detects and removes scripts designed to detect and bypass ad blockers.
  4. Custom Blocking Rules: Allows customization through a rules.json file to block specific ad domains or resources.
