The book is a monographic study of the world-known ancient Stone Age settlement - the Mezinskaya Late Palaeolithic site on the Desna River. The fully explored area of the site reveals remarkable remains of long-term dwellings, hearths, stone and bone processing sites and other economic and biological complexes. A great number of various tools and biological products, cult objects and jewellery made of stone and bone have been collected. The works of ancient art - sculpture, graphics and painting - found here are of exceptionally great value.

On the materials of Mezinskaya and other sites a number of general questions of the history of the Late Palaeolithic, particularly in the Middle Dnieper basin, are highlighted.
