Vivienda mínima versus casas baratas. Propuesta de Amós Salvador para el concurso de casas militares en Burgos
Description
In 1929, Europe had a problem of homelessness. Frankfurt was held in the II CIAM, with the title Die Wohnung für das Existenzminimum, the "Housing for subsistence." Fernando Garcia Mercadal organized in Spain the "Minimum housing competition". The result is a rich graphic repertoire but “not-so-minimal” dwellings. After seeing the result Amos Salvador published his research about the social housing problem. In 1928, Amos and Fernando Salvador, Juan de Zavala and Jose Maria Rivas, won a competition at the Patronato de Casas Militares. They projected in Burgos a total of 24 different types of houses in an interesting exercise of typological experimentation.
