The colours of connecting lines indicate geographical location: pink, Eurasia; blue, North America. Circle icons indicate morphology: green, trogontherii- (steppe mammoth)-like; blue, primigenius- (woolly mammoth)-like. Right-pointing black arrows indicate two inferred episodes of introgression through hybridisation.
