Obowiązkowa bezżenność i abstynencja seksualna księży rzymskokatolickich w wyobrażeniach i ocenach kobiet żyjących z księdzem we wspólnym związku

 This article presents the attitudes and evaluations of women living in relationships with diocesan and monastic priests regarding the obligatory bachelorhood and sexual abstinence of clergymen in the Roman Catholic Church. This presentation is based on sociological findings regarding the attitudes of various groups of respondents toward celibacy and sexual abstinence of priests. The research was carried out among 110 women living with priests. It shows that the majority of these women question the sense and purpose of the obligatory bachelorhood and sexual abstinence of priests. These women see no relationship between compulsory celibacy and institutional priesthood. Only several women are in favor of celibacy voluntarily chosen by the priest. Most women living with priests want them to remain priests and at the same time live with them in permanent cohabitation. Some priests living with women have their own children. Not all relationships between women and priests are permanent. Some priests leave their women for many reasons, including the willingness to return to priesthood based on celibacy and sexual abstinence. Women also leave priests and end the relationship with them for many different reasons. Among the motives that justify the mutual relationship between women and priests is the need for love and sexual need. Some women and some priests have moral dilemmas because of the relationship and are not able to resolve them properly.
