Description

Although Egypt, like many Arab countries, was late to meet children’s literature, it has made significant progress in this regard in a short time, and has become the leader of the Arab World in this field, as in many other fields, and has produced many poets who have focused on this subject. One of these, Kāmil KĪlanī, was born on October 20, 1897 in the El-Qalaa region of Cairo, near Mount Muqattam. The Egyptian writer and poet Kāmil KĪlanī is considered one of the pioneers of children’s literature because he wrote and translated thousands of children’s stories. Kāmil KĪlanī was the first person to address children via radio and the first person to establish a children’s library in Egypt. In this study, the short story “Ebu’l-Hasan” written by Kāmil KĪlanī was examined. The hero of the story, Abu'l-Hasan, was the son of a wealthy family living in the time of Harun Rashid. After his father's death, he inherited the inheritance. He donated some of the inheritance, hid the rest, and distanced himself from those who loved him for money. He met Harun Rashid and invited the caliph to his home. The caliph, impressed by his generosity, offered to fulfill one of his wishes. Quite impressive events developed from the beginning of Kamil Kīlani, whose wish was fulfilled. As a result, a historical short story that intrigues the reader emerged.
